🌟 This is from the Kickstarter page:
“Hello everyone, good to see you again! Do you still remember the Meow Star playing card from before? It sure did satisfy our cravings for cat-related things and showed us that cards are not only for shuffling but also for admiring!
🌟 If Meow Star is my consolation for not actually having a cat, the Meow Star Vending Machine is a straight up fantasy about raising one. How does one actually get a cat anyways? Wouldn’t it be amazing if some sort of cat vending machine existed…?
🌟 With this in mind, countless of cute little creatures started jumping from my pen right on to the paper and managed to pull me back to the soft, warm cat world.
🌟 Just like its predecessor, the style and colour of Meow Star Vending Machine is fresh and lovely and the hand-painted Japanese style pictures are soft and easy on the eye. Unlike the prequel, it has been designed with two layers of different packaging.
🌟 There is a sleeve on the deck. Meow Star comes in two versions – Meow Star Vending Machine & Meow Star Knitted Sweater.
🌟 The first version is the Meow Star Vending Machine. It looks just like a snack pack. The front has the words Meow Star in capital letters and Vending Machine written right underneath it. The rest of it is dominated by an illustration of a Strawberries Cream dessert and you can find a cute but realistic ingredient list at the back.
🌟 The second version is called Meow Star Knitted Sweater. Gold Foil is used on the Sleeve and it looks like a warm knitted sweater in fashionable hues of white, blue and red, just like one a caring grandma would knit for her beloved pet. And the buttons are made to look 3D!
🌟 The package hides secrets, much like a surprise egg hides a toy inside. If you pull on the tip of the ear visible on the outside, you’ll pull out the cutest cat. There is a greedy orange cat hiding inside of the snack pack and the sweater became home of a lazy Garfield. Look, they are wrinkling their noses as you pull them out by the ear! Quick, let them crawl back in before they get angry!
🌟 After removing the outside sleeve, you’ll reveal a box in the shape of a vending machine, hiding a deck of cards. I deliberately added all the small details, just like the coin slot, the button, and the delivery port.
🌟 Through the front window, you can see many furry cats squeezed all together, waiting to be purchased by the future owners. On the bottom, there is one curious cat peeking out to see who the lucky person will be to become its new personal care-taker.
🌟 There is another cat sitting at the back of the machine with a fish on its head. It looks dazed as it holds a Meow Star coin. Both sides of the box also have some scattered Meow Star coins, which might have fallen out of the vending machine. The whole box is fun and full of little stories. Open it up and let yourselves be charmed!
🌟 The backs of all the cards are completely filled with cats. A true depiction of my infinite love to these creatures.
🌟 If you look carefully, you’ll see that the cats, just like people, have their own personality, colour, and mood. A shy cat plunged into fruit jelly, a greedy kitty wrapped in a cake, or another one peeking through a donut. These creatures of the Meow Star are enveloped in a sweet aroma of dessert and make me want to taste them all!
🌟 Even though I’ve never had a cat myself, I like to carefully observe these little creatures. Naturally, over time I have noted some interesting facts about them.
🌟 The number cards showcase details relating to the vending machine. Just like the Meow Star, the Meow Star Vending Machine will never stop surprising you. For example, if you look at the Ten of Spades, you’ll notice that some mischievous cat has already nibbled at it. There are still pieces of it left on the ‘crime scene’ and it sure won’t take you long to figure out which naughty kitty has done it!
🌟 The Five of Clubs has a rainbow ice-cream cone stuck right onto it. The melting ice-cream has already stained the card. I think some cat must have mistaken the ice-cream for a ball of yarn!
🌟 Compared with the Meow Star deck, these number cards are much livelier and hide clever little details for you to uncover. You can find anything from potted plants to draft beer! The number cards have more than 10 secrets like this, waiting for a true cat lover to discover them all.
🌟 These are no ordinary court cards, but cute cat cards that make people’s hearts melt. For example, for the King of Spades, I drew a chubby tuxedo cat wearing a taiyaki costume. In the cat universe, this is a costume fit for a king!
🌟 For the King of Clubs, I chose a fluffy Maine Coon with a chocolate chip cookie around its neck. If it ever gets hungry, all it needs to do is lower its head and take a bite of the sweetest of cookies. This kingly lifestyle is sure to make anyone jealous.
🌟 Then there is the Jack of Hearts showing a cute Chi cat sticking right out of a tube of candy. The colourful candies have formed a necklace around its neck. And it even wears one as a hat. But don’t tell the cat I wrote ‘coot cat’ on the candy box!
🌟 However, the most interesting one must be the Queen of Diamonds. It is a little tabby cat trapped in apple flavoured jelly. Don’t worry, I gave it a straw so it can breathe freely. Tell me, don’t you feel like helping it out? Then, come right away!
🌟 I have chosen a dessert to go with every cat of the court cards. For example, the Sphynx is in a milk carton, the Russian Blue cat is in a cake, etc. These cards confirm the rule that says: if there is still cuteness and desserts in the world, nothing can go wrong!
🌟 The joker depict what I imagine the cat world to be like. Everything that goes on in a human city can happen there too. It looks like a serious place, but the details will truly make you laugh.
🌟 When you put the two cards together, you’ll see what is going on in the cat city. In the world of these playing cards, cats are the citizens of this magical place, they live and work there, they can shop around, ride the public transport, walk their pet mice…
🌟 The Ace of Spades shows an orange cat in a little cardboard box, with a little can on its head. You surely want to ask: Did it get stuck?
🌟 The answer is no. This brave cat is imagining it is wearing a cloak and a crown on his head. This little fellow has set out to save all the creatures on the Meow Star! The shape of the cat resembles the shape of the spade, which is a result of my long and hard creative consideration.
🌟 Each of the advertisement cards has its own wonderful story. One shows a tuxedo cat who jumped up on a can and tipped over a soda bottle with its tale. It is as mischievous as a real-life cat! It was hit by a coin with a cat paw pattern. Someone must have thrown a coin in and wants to collect a cat! Should the cat take all the snacks out of the vending machine and share with its new owner?
🌟 The second advertisement card has four cats and each of them is up to no good. One of them is throwing out a fish bone, the next one is playing with a pink ball of yarn and another one has turned its back to us completely. The little pink paw there is my guilty pleasure…
