The ghost have fascinated and terrified many generations over the years, and have stimulated the imagination of the best writers of all times, who created some mythical horror tales that left a great impression on us.
Stories like Sleepy Hollow, The Canterville Ghost, The Legend of the Flying Dutchman or the Ghosts of Christmas Carol, written by Charles Dickens.
Ghost stories literature playing cards uses all of these amazing characters to create an illustrated deck of fine art that combines the great literature and playing cards.
It is without a doubt a sensational deck for collectors, and essential deck for all lovers of great literature and classic horror stories. It is a perfect deck to display on Halloween night, and play a game of cards with it by candlelight, or near a fireplace.
Additionally, it will be accompanied by an e-book and a hard copy book that will compile some or all of these masterpieces of classic world literature.
– Deck of 55 illustrated cards, with a literary theme inspired by ghost stories.
– 12 unique and exclusive fine art illustrations for all court cards by artist Juanfran Moyano.
– All the backgrounds of the number cards are completely different from each other, creating a 100% customized deck.
– Printed by USPCC
– Embossing and foil gold on the tuck.
– fulfillment by Gamblers Warehouse.
The tuck features a central image that evokes literature and horror stories featuring ghosts.
An antique book dimly illuminated by candlelight, and the terrifying figure of a ghost in the background, all framed inside an oval mirror and ornate detailing is without a doubt the definitive image that represents everything this deck is all about.
We have decided that the tuck of “card ghost stories” will have some luxury details. For that reason the lettering on the front and both sides of the tuck will be printed using gold foil.
There will also be embossing on the tuck. We want the oval frame that forms the mirror in the center of the tuck to be embossed and give a realistic 3D effect.
All court card designs are based on famous ghosts from classic literature.
The fine art illustrations were made by Juanfran Moyano, artist of our previous project, “Eve, the untold story”.
All designs are original and exclusive art made just for this deck. You will not find this art on any other book, or any other product.
The four aces will be dedicated to the writers who created these wonderful ghost stories. Their faces will occupy the background, using a very muted tone so as not to detract from the pips of the aces.
Below the face of each writer we will be able to read their names and the date of their birth – death.
The writers are ordered according to the characters that occupy the court figures of each suit. Thus, the ace of spades shows the faces of Shakespeare, Henry James and Washington Irvin, for being the writers of the Hamlet, The Legend of Sleepy Hollon and The turn of the screw.
The ace of clubs is dedicated to Francis Marion Crawford and Edgar Allan Poe, for their stories The Upper Berth and The Fall of the House of Usher.
In the same way, in the ace of hearts we have Gaston Leroux and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe for their novels The Phantom of the Opera and The Bride of Corinth.
Our Joker is not the character of a ghost, but this detective of the paranormal has starred in numerous stories where ghosts were the main characters.
Long before Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis decided to dedicate themselves to hunting ghosts in the blockbuster “Ghostbusters (1984)” a writer, William Hope Hodgson created Carnacki, the ghost hunter, who starred in 6 incredible ghost stories published between 1910 and 1912.
These jokers can be joined side by side to assemble a Ouija board. A perfect complement to this deck dedicated to mystery and ghosts.
But be careful! Ouija is not a game. Best only to use these cards only as jokers. Everything is at your own responsibility.
