The Redux Go Deck is a new, exciting and ultra portable deck that is part of Flagrant Agenda’s Kickstarter Project, Agenda Playing Card Redux. The main idea for Redux Go Deck is about making a move and being mobile, settling in nicely with the core concepts of Agenda Redux on change and transformation with change, and transformation as signifying moving from the present to an ideal future. The Go deck is inspired partly by another successful Kickstarter project, the Air Deck, as well as Chinese playing cards, which feature such strip-like dimensions prominently in various forms.
Redux Go Deck is produced and distributed by Flagrant Agenda and features:
Custom pressed tuck case printed with premium blue uncoated paper and white and gold hot foil stamping
Printed on German Black Core paper
Cardistry finish
Custom Court cards (JQK), Jokers and Aces
So what is Redux Go deck? The Go deck is our name for playing cards that are strip-like – the cards are like normal playing cards cut into half into strips.
The Redux Go Deck is new and exciting venture for us. We talked about why we were attracted to the idea of a strip/domino-sized deck and how the concept fitted with the larger concept of Agenda Redux Playing Cards in our previous update (Update #5). We will be using blue uncoated fancy paper for the tuck case. The card designs are adapted from the Agenda Redux.
The Agenda Redux Playing Cards and Agenda Coin are the latest offerings from Flagrant Agenda following our success with Agenda Playing Cards (henceforth V1) and Mini Agenda Playing Cards last year. Playing cards have again and again proved to be fascinating mediums for communication. We have recently come into contact with mint coins as another means. Compared to playing cards, mint coins has added durability but constrain the expression of our ideas visually. We, however, appreciated the opportunity to crack our brains and take only the best of our design and put them on the mint coins.
We continue to pursue the theme of responsible change and transformation in this project. The major idea we are toying with in this project is the role of ideology in any change and transformation. We witnessed a lot happening globally in the last 2 years, some of them for the better and some of them for the worse. What motivated these changes are the dominant ideologies of the people who drive the change. We represent three major ideologies in this project through the use of colours.
Yellow-gold is the most commonly associated with liberalism, with its focus on the sanctity of the individual and their freedoms and rights. Blue is the colour of the conservativism, which espouses the preservation of tradition and authority. Lastly, we are also exploring red as the colour that exemplify socialism, a philosophy that emphasizes on the collective and social. We are simplifying the various strands within each major school of thought for clarify of design rather than a conscious or unconscious choice of ignoring the nuances.
We hope that this thematic element will raise awareness that while change and transformation are desirable, people may disagree on why they are needed. The important thing is to seek for understanding, not take offence too easily, establish common grounds and engage in constructive conversations. We should also recognize that there is always room for agreeing to disagree and not see every conversation as an opportunity to convert others.

Agenda Redux is all about the colours and details, in contrast to the monotone and minimalism of V1. Subtle enhancements are added to the card back, court cards, aces and jokers to for a more balanced and organic look and feel. The elements that represent change and transformation from V1, the serpent, the flower, the waves, the triangles, the sun, moon and stars, the eyeless monarchs and the mandala, are all present in Agenda Redux.
Flagrant Agenda is a Singapore-based, street fashion and lifestyle label that designs apparels and products with a contemporary and urban overtone and a strong focus on graphics and illustrations. Flagrant Agenda was established in 2014 to serve as an outlet to express ourselves on issues we feel strongly about.
We are influenced by issues related to our surroundings, the environments we grew up in, what we encounter in our everyday lives and the society at large. We seek to understand how people who grew up and live in different cultures, interpret these themes and hope that by doing so, allows us to gain insights into similarities and differences in the way how people think.
Our success with Agenda Playing Cards V1 and Mini Agenda Playing Cards has affirmed Kickstarter as a wonderful platform to express our ideas and garnered recognition for our work in playing card design.
Our resolution to expand beyond what we have already done with our apparels is now strengthened. This project strives to build a stronger foundation in playing card design and production for us and to explore a variety of other products. To that end, we have include as a new reward, mint coins that feature key design elements from our playing cards. There will be other products that we include as add-ons as the campaign progresses.
We hope this project continues to trigger people’s curiosity to find out more about the concept behind our products and inspire them to engage in conversations on and ponder more deeply about the issues related to the concept. We definitely hope to keep up with our previous successes and to continue to bring new playing cards and products in the future.
