The Agenda Playing Cards Facade (henceforth Agenda Red) continues the tradition we have established in our earlier projects, Agenda Playing Cards (aka V1), Mini Agenda, and the recently funded Agenda Playing Cards Redux (aka Agenda Blue) – translating abstract concepts related to change, transformation, ideology into concrete visual representations embedded in playing card designs.
The idea for Agenda Red came to us in the middle of our hugely successful Agenda Blue campaign (we have our ups and downs for that campaign if you are acquainted with what has happened). There was a realization that there are still many other ways we can play with the ideas and concepts visually using the playing card medium. In fact, we did not just spawn Agenda Red, we are also working on an Agenda series that will include at least another 2 playing card projects. The rest of the series will feature exploration of other related concepts and new, exciting design and colour schemes. The success of Agenda Red will serve as catalyst to complete the entire series.
Making a point without actually expressing what one has in mind or worse, making a different point from what one has in mind with the intention to mislead, is the key message that Agenda Red is representing. The reasons for not expressing what one has in mind can ranged from the innocuous (“I am shy”, “I am just trying to keep my opinions to myself”) to the malicious (“The media is-really, the word, I think one of the greatest term I’ve come up with-is fake.”).
You can call this having hidden agendas or ulterior motives. Different sides of the same coin. The essence of all these is putting on a front that is not genuine – a facade. In Agenda Red, this idea of a facade is incorporated into the card design through the use of masks. Masks are featured prominently in our newly designed Aces and Court Cards. We are quite pleased with with ourselves that we managed to cover another key aspect of change and transformation and to represent it through a simple and elegant metaphorical device. We hope you share the same sentiments too.
As this campaign comes roughly 1.5 months after Agenda Blue, we are giving the option of combining the rewards from both campaigns into one shipment for backers who support us in both campaigns. As a token to offset some of the shipping cost, we will be including a complimentary deck, the Classic Agenda Deck, in your rewards.
As mentioned, as part of this campaign, this complimentary Classic Agenda Deck will be exclusive to returning backers who choose to combine their rewards into one shipment. The Classic Agenda Deck may also be released for pre-order after the conclusion of the campaign on our website at the retail value. Returning backers can also decide to not combine their rewards and we will ship Agenda Blue as soon as they are ready and ship Agenda Red subsequently.

Flagrant Agenda started off in 2014, focusing on street fashion and serving as an outlet to express ourselves on issues that we feel strongly about. We have, since launching our first project in Kickstarter in 2017, transited to being a lifestyle label and exploring a wider range of apparels and products. A strong focus on graphics and illustrations with a contemporary and urban overtone continues to be our modus operandi.
Our apparels and products are strongly driven by issues related to our surroundings, the environments we grew up in, what we encounter in our everyday lives and the society at large. On the fun side, we enjoy experimenting how these issues and themes can be realized visually. On the reflective end, we seek fulfilment in understanding how people who grew up and live in different cultures interpret these themes and gaining insights into similarities and differences in the way how people think.
We are grateful for all the support that we have gotten for the 3 projects that we have launched so far on Kickstarter – Agenda Playing Cards V1, Mini Agenda Playing Cards, and Agenda Playing Cards Redux. Kickstarter is a wonderful platform that have extended our capacity to experiment with our ideas in ways that we could not have done before and, of course, provide platform to reach all of you who have supported us. On that note, we will continue to strive to explore and improve the way we bring our ideas to life.
